Doctors Appointment & Email
So I had my doctor’s appointment. Everything went well, but it was an emotional appointment. Doctor listened for the heartbeat and clearly picked it up. All I could do is cry and let out a as real as I can get of a smile. It’s so hard to have to try and not get too into anything going on pregnancy wise. I guess I can handle the heartbeat, but what I know I won’t be able to handle is the ultrasounds and baby kicking/moving. Right now, I’m having an okay time – other than the other stuff I’m dealing with on a psychological level.
Babys Heart beat: 160 bpm
Babys Estimated Due Date: December 18th, but will most likely come the 7th or 14th of December. Hoping the 7th since I’ll want to be as healed up as possible for christmas.
Email to Prospective Adoptive Parents
Hope you two are enjoying an early summer!
I was going to let the kids play outside in the pool, but it started to cloud up before I went and picked them up, so no pool for them today!
Anyways, last time we talked, I told you about my having my first appointment today. Everything went well. They checked my blood pressure, checked my weight, did a pap smear, as well as checked for my uterus location. I love my doctor .. he’s really great. But after all was said and done, he listed for the baby’s heartbeat and I was shocked that he picked up on it since I’m only 9 wks. Usually they don’t check until 12 weeks or so since the baby is so tiny and is hard to locate. But he had no problem. Heart rate was 160 beats per minute. Which is really good.
After he did the examination, we discussed a few things. I explained to him that I was 99.99% positive that I would be placing this baby up for adoption. And he’s willing to work with me to make sure everything goes the way we would want them to. So we’re on the same page so there isn’t any surprises throughout the rest of the pregnancy. He gave me a due date of December 18th. So that means that I would most likely be having the baby December 14th, since they usually schedule csections a week before the due date. But it could also be December 7th. Which I’m kind of hoping for since then it’d give me 17 days to recover in time for Christmas.
He also brought up some testing options. I said that I had wanted to talk to you about these options before I made a definite. For one test, maybe both tests, needs to be done between 15 and 18 weeks for the best results. The AFP (tests for down syndrome and spina bifida) has a high rate of giving false positives. There is no cure for spina bifida from my understanding. I would need to do some research on this to make sure before I say anything definite. There’s also a test for Cystic Fibrosis. He said that caucasian children have a higher chance of having CF than any other nationality. But, with both of these tests I have declined in the past. But, I’m leaving this option up to you. Both are blood tests, so that’s not why I don’t do them. Its just in my heart, I know no matter what the results showed, I couldn’t do anything other than carry the baby full term. But since I won’t be keeping this baby, I’m trying to give you two the option about whether or not you would like me to have the test done.
I will be going back for another appointment in a month. I was kind of emotional so I left the office without making an appointment like i usually do. But I will keep you in the loop in regards to whats going on with the pregnancy. If you would like to discuss anything I have written you about, please feel free to call me. I believe you still have my number. I look forward to hearing from you!
